Quest Software’s PowerPack Challenge’08

OK pal – you think you got what it takes to be the big boss of scripting? Give it your best shot in Quest Software’s PowerPack Challenge

Experience for yourself what all the hype is about.  Whether you are new to PowerShell and want to learn more, or are you an early adopter who is passionate about POSH, come and take the PowerPack Challenge.

Quest Software is sponsoring this contest where you can test your PowerShell scripting skills and get paid.  Just create some cool PowerShell scripts using Quest’s PowerGUI, then post them to our site.   You’ll get a score and our celebrity judges will weigh in as well.  Winners can receive up to $500 USD to spend on amazon.com.

Here’s How It’s Gonna Go Down:

The contest is divided into two time periods called sprints and prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of each sprint. The sprint dates are 1 July 2008 – 15 August 2008 and 16 August 2008 – 30 September 2008

Awards

If your script’s got the muscle, here’s what you can take home:

Most Active - Sprint 1   $500 Amazon.com Gift Certificate
Second Most Active -Sprint 1   $250 Amazon.com Gift Certificate
Best PowerPack - Sprint 1   $500 Amazon.com Gift Certificate

To qualify for an award during a sprint, the submission must be posted by 11:59 PM PST on the last day of the sprint.

Criteria

The Most Active Contestant will be determined by identifying the person who accumulated the highest point value for all valid PowerPacks submitted by this person during the Sprint. The Second Most Active Contestant will be the person who accumulated the second highest sum of point values for all of the valid PowerPacks submitted by this person during a Sprint. A PowerPack is posted on the powergui.org library that calculates the score. This is the official scoring methodology

Candidates for The Best PowerPack will be selected from the ten (10) highest point value entries within a Sprint. A Promotion Judging Panel will judge the 10 entries by two additional criteria. The Panel will award up to ten (10) points for complexity of the PowerPack and up to ten (10) points for the business value of the PowerPack (for a maximum additional score of 20)
